BOT JUST WHAT ARE THEY

To whom it may concern. It has come to my attention that there is some degree of confusion among many players as to what a "bot" is. The reason for this confusion is pretty cut and dry. Let's see if I can help clear it up a little bit.

There are two completely separate types of "bot" commonly referred to within M2. Both are called "bots" because of the absence of human input.

Type 1 -
Hit-list targets marked by the Godfather are often referred to as "bots", though in the strictest sense, they should probably just be seen as accounts with MASSIVE health, created by Playdom solely for the purpose of being hit-list targets.
Because they can not be proven to take any specific actions of normal game play, "bot" may be an inappropriate term, but that is often what they are called by players, so get used to it.

They are NOT owned or operated by other facebook users.
You can NOT mob up with them.
They do NOT attack, retaliate, punch, hit-list, communicate, or otherwise emote.

When you kill one of these "bots", you are awarded a "finger". The finger is required loot for a mission in Coney Island. That is why these targets exist.

They are easily distinguishable from other players that have been hit-listed.

On the hit-list, other players show up in white text, while bots show up in an orange-ish color.
Bots have a red target to the left of the listing. Other players don't.
When you read the "marked by" column, you can see who listed the target. Bots are always marked by "The Godfather".

Type 2-
A script used by a player to automatically perform tasks is called a "bot". This is a blatant violation of Playdom's Terms of Service. However, MANY, MANY players continue to use them. They are used for pretty much every aspect of game play. These "bots" are acquired by other facebook users without Playdom's permission, or "knowledge" (cough.. cough).

They can be set to attack hit-list targets, work the attack list, hit a certain person, collect tribute, do missions, send gifts, receive gifts, collect bonuses, really pretty much anything.

I tried really hard to stick to the facts, and not express an opinion about the Type 2 bot above. If you are considering using any such script yourself, I must at least, leave you with a question.

Do you want to play M2, or just make it more irritating for those that do play?
