What Is a Hired Gun?

A Hired Gun is essentially a virtual mobster. When you go into battle, your Hired Guns join force with your Mobsters to provide either defense or offense. Based on your current location (details provided below), each eligible Hired Gun will be equipped with the best available equipment (Attack stat based if you are attacking in a fight and Defense stat based if you are defending in a fight.)
Since each Mobster/Hired Gun is equipped (if available) with one each of the best available equipment from each of the s6 equipment categories, a Hired Gun can represent a significant boost in Attack or Defense strength in a fight! For example, let’s look at a level 40 account who is defending in a fight. For our analysis, we will assume that the account has a Core Defense stat of 60 and that the Hired Gun will be equipped with generally available equipment:

Core Defense: 60 (which is multipled by .66 to determine the effective defense of 40)
Melee: Jackhammer – Defense: 10
Gun: Jericho 941 – Defense: 8
Explosive: Nitroglycerin – Defense: 4
Armor: Night-Vision Goggles – Defense: 16
Vehicle: Garbage Truck – Defense: 12
Henchmen: Sleeper Agent – Defense: 11
If we add this up, in our example each Hired Gun will provide a total Defense boost of 101! This is more than the Defense boost that you can get from practically any Limited Edition item in the game and certainly at a much lower cost (20 FP). Therefore, as a general rule, I recommend purchasing a Hired Gun instead of a Limited Edition or Black Market item. The one exception is if you are purchasing an LE or BM item which provides a straight percentage boost to your Attack or Defense stats. (I will be covering this in detail in a separate post.)
Now, let’s look at the same level 40 account who is this time attacking in a fight. For our analysis, we will assume that the account has a Core Attack stat of 60 and that the Hired Gun will be equipped with generally available equipment:

Core Attack: 60 (which is multipled by .66 to determine the effective attack of 40)
Melee: Jackhammer – Attack: 21
Gun: Jericho 941 – Attack: 20
Explosive: TNT – Attack: 16
Armor: Exoskeleton – Attack: 8
Vehicle: Snowmobile – Attack: 8
Henchmen: Sleeper Agent – Attack: 8
If we add this up, in our example each Hired Gun will provide a total Attack boost of 121The value of a Hired Gun in terms of relative boost in Defense and Attack increases as you level up and have access to even more powerful equipment.
It’s very important to obtain Hired Guns as early as you can in the game. When you are level 1 to 10, having Hired Guns can give you a seriously decisive edge both offensive and defensively.
The inline game help states: “These hired guns will be much more valuable after you pass level 100 and can use over 500 mob members in fights.” but this is really not true unless you obtain a lot (80+) of Hired Guns.
