VIP membership costs $9.99 for the first month, thereafter if you choose to continue your VIP it's $19.99 a month. You can (and it's easy) to opt out anytime after you pay for your first month. You can opt out the next day and still receive your VIP perks until the end of the month you signed up in.
If you are a small toon or getting beat up all the time, or IF you just want to create another stronger toon this is the way to go.. for $10 you can't beat what they give you.
Maybe if we all spend $10 Playdom might have some money to fix their shit.. and I don't want a bunch of comments on how Playdom doesn't need money or that they are ripping us off.. most everyone can afford $10 if you really like playing this game. This is not a debate.. it's just to let you know or understand what you are getting by purchasing the VIP membership for M2.

If you stay a VIP for $20 ($19.99 or $19.95.. forget) a month you get 100 favor points a month and a new rare item(s) every Saturday. They are giving you in Avatar items alone almost 400 Favor Point items.
If you are saying.. I don't want or like to give my CC info to playdom.. then there ARE ALTERNATIVES!!! Get a Walmart or a Green Dot credit card... they cost $4.99 then you put how much money you want on the card. Yeah it's going to cost you about $5 extra, but it's extra protection for you. Greendot and Walmart cards can be found.. GUESS WHERE?? WALMART!!! They also sell them at most drug stores, Radio Shack and tons of other places. You can also purchase a Playdom Gift Card to do this.
I'm not TRYING to support Playdom, just telling you what you get and some of your options, hope it helps someone!
